It is significant to note that obesity coupled with lack of physical activity, and high cholesterol leads to insulin resistance. The pancreas of obese people produce insulin, but their cells are unable to use it effectively due to excess obesity, cholesterol, or lack of physical activity.
The production of yet more insulin is unable to overcome it leading to weight gain, and still elevated cholesterol and more insulin resistance. Finally the cells responsible for producing insulin get exhausted and stop producing sufficient insulin leading to elevated glucose levels, or Type 2 diabetes.
