Method of Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Line two 8 round cake pans with parchment paper or waxed paper. Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt together. Cream the margarine, vanilla, almond extract together in an electric mixer at moderate speed so as form a fluffy consistency. Then add sugar gradually and continue beating constantly. Now add egg to it and beat well till it forms a fluffy consistency. By stirring with spoon, add the dry ingredients and the milk alternatively. Stir continuosly after each addition. Continue stirring till forms a smooth batter. Pour the contents into the already prepared pans. Bake them for about 25 to 30 minutes or until done. Allow it to cool for sometime and then spread strawberry jam between the layers. Spread whipped topping on the top. Refrigerate it before serving. Now the birthday treat is ready with the delicious cake.(optional- You can even add a drop of food colour of your choice to the whipped topping before putting it on the top of the cake).
